JUNGE MÄNNER is an aesthetic exploration of the body, desire, fragility, and untamed youth.
Images are extracted from existing moving-image material, then processed and rearranged.
Removed from their original contexts, they establish an inviting distance between the body and the viewer.
Desire emerges in what cannot be fully seen, and in what remains unresolved, both physically and emotionally.
Through halftone processing, the images resist clarity. As the viewer moves closer, the image gradually dissolves into coloured dots.
The body is no longer presented as a complete, stable subject, but drifts between figuration and abstraction.
From the perspective of the subject within the image, the work explores the space between exposure and self-protection
— a desire to be looked at, to be seen, even at the risk of being exposed.
Yet when the gaze comes too close, the image withdraws into abstraction, becoming a form of self-protection.
From the viewer's perspective, the work also explores a way of looking. Fragmented images of the body leave room for imagination.
Distance invites the viewer to fill in what remains unseen through their own experiences and desires,
allowing an incomplete image to take on another form of wholeness.
