SKATEBOARDERS brings together images made at Southbank, London, across different moments and formats.
Situated along the River Thames, surrounded by cinemas, theatres, and art institutions, the skate space carries a particular atmosphere.
Every time I walked past,I found myself drawn to the skateboarders, their bodies, movements,
and the sense of freedom in the way they occupy the space.
Fragments of movement, gestures, and encounters are observed through repeated visits to the same location.
The photographs are produced using different media, including a hand-held DVD camcorder and medium-format film.
Rather than distinguishing between them, the work allows variations in texture, resolution, and time to coexist.
